I have about five or six photo editing programs on my computer including Adobe Photoshop Elements, and none is as easy to use as Picasa2, nor accomplishes the tasks as well. After about a half hour of working with PhotoShop it usually crashes my computer as it uses so much resources. I seldom use these other programs and only when I want to do more than Picasa2 does.
I cannot recommend this product enough. It will find and organize all the photographs on your computer. Editing is much, much easier than any other photo software I have ever used. It will download images from your camera much more easily than the software that came with your camera. It is amazing for old and faded images that have been scanned, as I have discovered. I owe much of the credit for the editing of the images that I have uploaded to Flickr and My Picasa Web Albums to Picasa. You have nothing to lose trying it as it is FREE!
You can create all sorts of cute things such as this collage HERE with just the click of the “create” tab. With that same “create” tab you can merge photos together such as HERE. It has a fabulous screensaver which I have just discovered and it creates wonderful slide shows with music, or CDs DVDs with slide shows too, or just to give or backup or photos. Everything is done with just a “CLICK” of a button.
I have never found anyone to write anything bad about the software. Although it is designed for amateurs, even professionals use it, as it is so much faster than their professional software. It is amazing that Google gives it away for free, but they also give away a lot of other good stuff too, such as email, calendars. I use Google for my homepage and on it shows slides of my photos from Picasa2.
Go and see all the things that you can do with it. Take the tour. It is easy to download and easy to use and it is all free.

Thank you, Neddy, for sharing your info re: use of Picasa2. I, too, have found this to be the simplest computer photo managing, editing program. Believe me when I say “if I can do it, so can you!”

Do you know how to change the order of pictures within a file? I am doing some remodeling and I want to put the pictures in sequencial order, but I can’t figure out how. Any ideas?

Beth - I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, however, here are two things to try. 1) In Picasa2, go to the “View” tab and choose “Folder View” and then sort however you like; or 2) Go to “Folder” tab and choose “Sort By” and then choose, “Name, Date or Size.”
Hope this helps.

When I try to sign in to picasa I get the message”Failed to connect to Picasa email-please try again later. I have wasted 2 days and lot of patience trying to figure out how to sign in. Do you have any suggestions?

I got glitch in Picasa2 so I deleted it and re-downloaded. Still boots with error message and won’t prceed into program. Miss it greatly. Advice?

I’ve never had any real glitches with Picasa2. I have used it with both XP and Vista Home Premium and Internet Explorer and Firefox browser. I do know that we end up with multiple photo software programs on our computers, so that may be a conflict that you have. Every new camera wants to install its own photo software. Even after I do that I go back to Picasa2.
You might try reading the Google’s Photo blog to see if there is any help for you: http://googlephotos.blogspot.com/

Because I have a duplicate of all my picture programs, ie Photoshop, my C drive is getting full and sluggish. How do I block Picasa 2 from coping all pictures files on my computer. What can I do to restore more memory in my C drive?
